Reduce Energy Use with a Variable Speed Control

Recent scientific research has determined that the amount of airflow actually used for “steady state” milking—when all milking units are attached without any squawking teat cups or air leaks—is as little as 1 to 2 cfm (30 to 60 L/min) per unit.

During milking, additional airflow is required when attaching units, dealing with a squawking liner, or if a milking unit falls off. Similarly, extra airflow is necessary during the cleaning process, such as when an air injector admits atmospheric air into the milk line to form a “wash slug”.
